The world is facing a severe energy challenge. Electricity demand will grow faster than any other form of final energy. It is estimated that roughly 70 % of electricity is consumed by electric motor systems used in the industry. By 2040, the demand for electric motion will double. By using more efficient motors, it would be possible to realize considerable energy and carbon dioxide emissions savings. This demand has prompted governments to introduce MEPS (Minimum Energy Performance Standards), setting mandatory minimum efficiency levels for electric motors.
